Why is alcohol consumption increasing in Kerala?

You can find hundreds of Mallu boys gathered in any bar in Kerala on any day. Most of them give the reason that they have no other place to gather.

Is it because most of them are either engineers or doctors and they stay at hostels away from home ?

alcohol as a form of escapism from their boring schedules or lives.

Kerala bid goodbye to 2006 by consuming a whopping Rs.213 million worth of liquor in the days leading up to the New Year 2007.
