Solar Eclipse at Russian-China on August 1

A total solar eclipse will occur on August 1, 2008 as the new moon passes directly between the sun and the earth making its shadow. The shadow of moon will fall on parts of Canada, Greenland, the Arctic Ocean, Russia, Mongolia, and China. Most of these are partial but this one is a Total Solar Eclipse!

The longest duration of the solar eclipse’s totality will occur in Russia and last for about two minutes and 27 seconds on Friday, August 1, 2008 at 8:50:00 AM IST.
You can watch the solar eclipse online on august 2008 at the website of the Exploratorium’s eclipse expedition team. The live images will be from the remote Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China near the Mongolian border. NASA says "this region is noteworthy as it offers some of the most promising weather prospects along the entire eclipse path"
