Why is kerala called Gods own country ?

It is always a pleasure to visit this beautiful State of India. Thomas Bracken sometime in the 1880's wrote a poem about New Zealand where that country was referred to as God's own country. I am very happy that this title God's own country which has been used by New Zealanders to describe their own country for more than 120 years, has been adopted by the people of Kerala to describe their own State. With all its natural wealth, beautiful surroundings and enlightened people, Kerala is really and literally God's own country. My hearty congratulations.

From the text of President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s address at the closing ceremony celebrations of 50th year of the Formation of Kerala Thrissur at Thrissur, Kerala. More

Thomas Bracken was the first person to publish the phrase God's Own Country.

The government of the South Indian state of Kerala (or Keralam) in India has adopted the phrase God’s Own Country as its slogan/punchline for marketing it's enormous tourism potential.Over the years the phrase has gained popularity and now it has become a strong brand name for Kerala Tourism.

I forgot which agency did this.

This is a message from a lal fan Hope it will be super hit:
Hello everybody...
one of the first lucky fans to se the movie at 9.30 am.
show started at calicut apsara by that time.
i was sad as i didnt get balcony ticket.still i managed to get a first class one.

the start of the movie has been shot in a spectacular way.
a real tribute to our brave soldiers.
a closeup view on a pillar on which its written,

" i have served my nation
i have kept my faith
i have done my duty "

on the memory of our martyr jawans really inspires the mind.

The introduction of our hero was another instance.
the huge applause confirms that it was one of the best introduction, Lal ever had in a movie...

The movie is trilingual....
equal importance is given for hindi n tamil....
malayalam subtitles have been provided for hindi dialogues...

unlike other mallu military movies, in which the entire army
is filled with mallus(remember sainyam and nairsaab), KC stays apart...

special mention has to be given to the action scenes especially
two military attacks....
Major Ravi has done a wonderful job definitely....

Lalettaa... we needed this frm u much before itself.....
truely, this is his fifth consecutive hit after naran, thanmathra, rasathanthram and vadakkumnaathan...
one of his career best performance, at a situation where our opponents were questioning his existance....
Jeeva and shammi thilakan also did a wonderful job.....
guest roles include lakshmi gopalaswamy and biju menon....

keerthichakra is gonna rule the cinemas in kerala...
no doubt that this movie will become a matter worth discussion all over....

More Keerthichakra snaps

Rama Navami

Hindus dedicate this day to the memory of Lord Rama. It occurs on the ninth day (navami). The festival commemorates the birth of Rama who is remembered for his preperous and righteous reign. Ramrajya (the reign of Rama) has become synonymous with a period of peace and prosperity. Mahatma Gandhi also used this term to describe how, according to him, India should be after independence

Mallu Joke

Check this out – Read till the end!!

A mallu family in kerala was puzzled when the coffin of their dead 90 years old mother arrived from the UAE.

It was sent by one of the daughters. The dead body was so tightly squeezed inside the coffin, with no space left in it! When they opened the lid, they found a letter on top, which read as follows:
Dear brothers and sisters, I am sending our mother's body to you, since it was her wishes that she should be cremated in Kerala. Sorry, I could not come along as all of my paid leaves are consumed.

You will find inside the coffin, under Mummy's body, 12 cans of cheese, 10 packets of chocolates and 8 packets of Badam. Please divide these among all of you. On Mummy's feet you will find a new pair of Reebok shoes (size 10) for Biju. Also, there are 2 pairs of shoes for Radha chechi's and Lakshmi Chechi's sons.

Hope the sizes are correct. Mummy is wearing 6 T-Shirts. The large size is for Tintu and the others are for jojo ,jijo, jinto and Ditto. Just distribute them among yourselves. The 2 new Jeans that Mummy is wearing are for Jinto and jojo . The Swiss watch that Soumya wanted is on Mummy's left wrist.

Mummy is wearing a necklace, that is for Shanta Aunty, earrings are for Radha chechi's and Ring is for Lakshmi Chechi's. Please take them. The 6 white cotton socks that Mummy is wearing must be divided among my teenager neices.

Please distribute all these uniformly and if anything more required let me know, since our Papa is also not keeping well lately
Cheers Switz!

The grand finale will be the `SunTech Sonu Nigam Nite' on April 2.
There would be rock shows, quiz programmes and sports.
The light and classical competitions will be on March 27 at Travancore Hall.

"We have a great group of singers who do us proud by winning a number of prizes in music. In fact, we have a club called `The Chords' and there is music in the air on Thursday evenings when our singers and musicians get together. We have an in-house event called `Tarang' to select the participants for the solo events," says Sthanukumar R, project manager of U.S. Technology.

Many of the companies in Technopark have their own in-house competitions to select the participants for `Tech-a-break.'

Sugeetha says that one of the highlights this year will be a contest to select the funniest corporate video.

Shot by the techies themselves, the eight-minute films promise to be a laugh riot. This will be held on March 28. March 29 will see the band `Dreadlocks' unleash their hungama on the campus.

A quiz programme will be hosted by Charu Sharma on March 30 while the selection of Leela Infotech-sponsored Mr. and Ms. Techopark will be conducted from 7 p.m. on March 31.

"We make our own destiny." Swami Vivek

The finance minister concluded with Vivekanda's quote. I liked the quote than the budget.
179. Over a hundred years ago, a restless young man in his quest for the core of all spirituality admonished his fellow men in the following words: "We reap what we sow. We are the makers of our own fate. The wind is blowing; those vessels whose sails are unfurled catch it, and go forward on their way, but those which have their sails furled do not catch the wind. Is that the fault of the wind?....... We make our own destiny." Those are the immortal words of Swami Vivekananda. Let us believe in our destiny, let us make our future.
180. Sir, with these words, I commend the Budget to the House.

Why should I want to swap files to

As our slogan says: Give one file, get one free! is meant to be fun. It acts as a big black box. You put in one file and you will receive a different file in exchange which someone swaped earlier. If many users swap cool files many other users recieve cool files.
