[UPDATE 1]: BIAL received notification from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) that the Bangalore International Airport at Devanahalli would be commissioned at 00.01 hours of May 24, 2008.

The much-awaited Bangalore international airport is almost ready, but getting there could prove a nightmare for travellers facing more chaos on clogged roads. The government has not delivered on promises to widen access roads or build a dedicated rail link to and from the city -- meaning the commute could take much longer than a short-haul flight.
Bangalore International Airport Ltd. (BIAL)'s Swiss CEO Albert Brunner, has set an April 2, 2008 deadline. The trial run done two days back with aircrafts of Kingfisher Airlines, Air Deccan and the Indian Air force at the Bengaluru International Airport was a success.
The airport expects to receive and send off eight million passengers in its first year. It has been designed for 11000000 passengers a year.The project which is in its final stages of completion and is expected to cost more than 20000000000 rupees...
