I heard in kochi, the private Fms are not sharing AIR Tower.as AIR Kochi didnt allow.so thay are using some temperory tower in the roof of some building.

As you know. In Trivandrum, all FM's are sharing CTI, that is sharing with HPT of Doordarshan.
which is about 135m height, and there may be restrictions from them, but u know in kochi, AIR didnt allow CTI, and all private FMs are having a temperory Tower in the roof of some building, so for them no restrictions.
Again, How many times FM Rainbow kochi relaunched? if it is a big City then why no existance for the same. then why ananthapuri FM exist from 1999 with high profit. and good rating.
Even Kochi Has FM Rainbow, whats there technical status. very bad reception.
Kochi will have Mango and kochi Guys will go for Mango...
Even Mango Comes to Trivandrum, there is no any chance for them.
Common man don't have to think about CTI or 135 metres..what matters is 24 hrs radio masti and we have that is Kochi - it doesn't matter whether u ppl call Kochi as a small city or a big village. But for people of Kerala..Kochi rocks...at the outset I am sad these days that at night they play a lot of mallu songs..i mean a lot..that too boring ones many a times...
then jaya, have you ever heard ananthapuri fm programmes, it is even available through sayellite,insat 4b.
a survey was conducted by some agency on radio listenership at diff time intervals.....as we know the % was higer at mrngs and evengs...in all cities..
but when the result of survey was published kochi came out with more vibrant response towards nite time listenership... and surprisingly.....tvm gave out a dull response of hardly any listeners after 12....response of all other cities was moderate...
i dnt know if u guys know that radio mango is the only fm station which airs prog till 1 am unlike others...they have a jockey till 1 am....where as club have till 12 am...its true that these 3 fms are rocking kochi even after midnight with great value added songs till 6 am... and am sad to hear abt tvm as its my hometown and i here fms whenever i get there..my fav is radio mirchi.....pls reply to my comments...
So till now, i think that our TVM is rocking with BIG and Mirchi, now i freally feel sad and sorry to you all guys.

And for us, in UAE , we are having 2 FM stations. HIT 96.7 and OXYGEN 94.7..and Two AM station Asianet radio 657 and Radio asia 1269, its Digital AMs.

But From April 2009 onwards, we are getting HIT 96.7 and in 94.7 , we are getting Hindi channel.. as Per Radio asia , they are waiting for a new frequency allotment from the government.
At the Same time,we are getting a new test malayalam FM on 95.3- saying Radio Me, 24 hours malayalam and tamil songs on 95.3.
itz 200KW, these UAE stations are avaialable in all gulf regions.
even in iran we can tune to them.
and About AM- we have Asianet RAdio 657 and RAdioasia's 1269.both are 24 hours.
the coverage of AM stations extend beyond Gulf regions.
even in bombay , u can tune to asianet radio.
All FM stations have hourly news like our ananthapuri.
Technically much much better than kerala stations.
2 to 3 anchors for one program..

Anyway these stations are 24 hours and have good coverage.
well i thnk its in puliarakkonam where our DD tower is situated...I thnk the FMs in TVM r using DD tower for transmission.... i got this info from a site....but i forgot the name of the site...it was a long time back.

as i know only CLUB FM 94.3 is the only 24hr fm station in TVM.Rest all are till 12am,12.30am etc.
during the T20 world cup radio mirchi was on air till 2am with score updates till end of match.that was great as there is a live RJ till 2 am....wht do u thnk?? but now its all back to normal as Club is the only one throughout.... i dont know the current status as im in kochi now..... pls comment...
u may get fm in varkala but i dont thnk it is in stereo... however there should be trouble free mono reception..
i thnk RJs in BIG 92.7 is one step ahead than others... anyways...its my personal favorite.... reply.bye.

well already there was red fm 93.5 in north cities (mumbai, delhi etc) which was owned by india today. then when they had losses and it was acquired by s fm 93.5.... then they just changed there brand name to RED. now they claim to be the largest FM network in the country.... with fms in almost everywhere. with this in kerala its known as RED FM 93.5. they have also brought some changes in their progams...

Both these stations here are expected to start soon. If they materialise, it will be the second Digital Radio Broadcasting Station in India and the first FM station here respectively. The project has already been included in the XI Five-Year Plan.
At present, the All India Radio here is the highest power transmitting station in the state with a capacity of 200 kw. However, now the station relays the programmes from Thiruvananthapuram and New Delhi stations only.
P R Shaji Assistant Station Engineer, AIR, Alappuzha told Express that it was three years ago that they had submitted a proposal for setting up an FM station here. “After submitting the proposal, we have approached all the top officials of the AIR many a time and they have given us a positive reply,’’ he said.
“A Detailed Project Report(DPR) will be prepared soon by AIR’s Planning and Development Cell, New Delhi, for setting up the stations here. The DRM system has near FM sound quality plus ease-of-use that comes from digital transmissions. The listeners, who have a digital receiver can enjoy the service,” said the officials concerned.
“At present, Alappuzha has no FM stations as its own either in private sector or in government sector. So an FM station especially in government sector will have a good scope here and it will also increase the income of the AIR. The people can also listen to the programmes of the FM station through their mobile phones. However, at present the people are unable to enjoy the programmes of Alappuzha station through their cellphones as it broadcasts the programmes in MW,” Shaji said.
Both the new stations will be set up in the land of the present Transmitting Radio Station, which has around 33 acres of land of its own. The FM station will have 10 kw power and a coverage of 50 km at the primary level.
At present the Alappuzha station does not possess either a studio or a production wing.
The AIR has started its first digital broadcasting station in New Delhi in 2008 as a pilot project and it is a very successful one.
It was in 1971 that the AIR Transmitting station was commissioned in Alappuzha with a capacity of 100 kw power. In 1999, the capacity was increased to 200 kw.

Unlike macfast, 90.8 can be tuned in mobile phone here but not clear . In car audio it is switching between stereo and mono here, but mostly in stereo mode don't think it is broadcasting from kottayam district possibly from aleppey district as it is coming south west of etmr.with ext ant constant power ,stereo mode il slight aayittu hissing unde( not crystal clear ).devikulam ,kochi stations kazhinjal nannaayittu kittunnathu 90.8 aanu. Macfast is clear in kottayam town with a good receiver, but going north of kottayam at my home etmr even with ext antennae There is lot of noise in stereo mode plus overlap from a Sinhala station at 90.3 ,forcing me to use 90.45 instead of 90.4 to get macfast.
I' ve also received trichy stat many a times esp when kochi is off air, and often it was very clear in stereo mode.similarly in eve if devikulam goes off Kannur can be heard.

If they start fm there are they going to stop the mw transmission , any guess.
Regarding the cable tv interference , here asianet cable vision has stopped all their analogue broadcast through cable some months back which was was a relief for fm listeners I think all local able operators are also switching to digital broadcast and phase out analogue transmission soon, think its India govt policy.
Problem in radio reception in kottayam is its undulant geography ,unlike Alappuzha or ernakulam where u have a flat terrain with 360 degree horizon view ,here we have small elevated grounds all around which is terrible for radio reception.my point even if aleppey is close to kottayam there may not be a hazzle free reception in kottayam district except in area of kumarakom or vaikom or parts of upper kuttanad.

Old tuners are far better ,newer music systems are not serious about FM radio. Infact I've lost some money buying some crap radios.
Car Audio:Sony,Kenwood, JVC and othere make excellent fm receivers.Among mobiles Nokia some models , ericson all with their original headsets are also good.

Regarding asianet ,Digital transmissionum same cable il thanneyanu varunnathennu .what I meant was ,there is probably co existent analog plus digital signals in cable in your area ,soon they will stop all analog broadcast when they distribute settop boxes for all subscribers. Once they stop analog the interference to fm from the cable will be gone forever. Digital signals ,fm waves allathathinal interference sadhyathayilla.For the time being better to keep ur fm antennae as far as possible from the cable.

Hi,I recently visited ooty & tried tuning fm with nokia mobile with astonishing results.
These are the stations I received in mobile perfect clarity : 91.1 radio city Kovai,Radio mango Kochi !!,Yes (Even in prescence of strong 91.9 Kovai Gyan vani)(No, dont think its from Calicut).,92.7 both bengaluru and mysore big fm stations,93.5 suryan fm in tamil as well as kannada ?mysore,94.3 Club Fm cochin in stereo !!(as there was no interference at that freq,nearest is radio indigo bengaluru).98.3 mirchi kovai,101.8 air ooty,102.3 AIR Kochi !,103 AIR Kovai,103.6 AIR Kozhikode !,104 fever bengaluru,105.6 gyan vani kochi !,hello fmkovai ,107.5 rainbow kochi !,107.8 psg commu radio. Apart from these : 90.4 radio mattoli wynad,kodaikanal,air bangalore,Mysore 100.6, kodagu 103.1 were also received with minimal noise. This place was siuated at 2412 meters above sea level about 200m above ooty with north side facing a mountain open in west and south.If this is the reception in that part imagine if u have a good receiver on top of Dodda Betta Peak here. u'll receive at least 400 fm stations I suppose.
I was surprised why devikulam or any of the thrissur stations didnt showed up.Unfortunately i didnt get time to experiment otherewise could have identified more stations. Thoght it must be interesting to u. athukondanu post cheythathu

Chennai stationsnbengalururil kittunnu alle but reverse is not happening. When I was residing in chennai, Receiving bengaluru stations was really difficult ,these chennai stations apart from 104.8 plays nothing other than Tamil songs, and me searching for Hindi. Funny thing is ,as there was no fever fm in chennai I tried that 104 MHz but I instead of b'lore I was getting Kolkata 104 !!
U r right kris, when u r very near to a transmitter receiving distant stations on adjacent freq is almost impossible.
Btw In kambam theni route Cochin fms can be tuned but not devikulam although it's quite near !

Thanx for the info regarding new stations. What is their idea in restricting tower heights , why can't they keep towers higher and allot different frequencies for all stations.
Palakkad is already loaded with lot of stations from adjacent districts it's interesting to see how they r going to allot new without compromising the existing.
Btw for me here , 90.8 is slightly less powerful than Cochin stations. R u getting tvm stations clearly round the clock ?
Salem fm? Never received that one ,I guess it's a new one as well ,don't remember any stations from Salem.

According to the newspaper report Palakkad station is supposed to get fully equipped with own studio - so dont think it will be a low power transmitter. I think Palakkad needs high power transmitter .It is the biggest district in Kerala with whole lot of remote areas so radio could be an important media or sometimes the only media. If they are using an interference prone freq the local station need to be powerful enough to overcome to reject adjacent stations.

Bad news for radio listeners. When there is a 16 % rise in number of homes with tv set ,there is a reduction of 15 % of homes with radio.
47.2% of homes have a tv while radio is used only in 19.9 % of homes. Sorce india census.

I was there in Kerala on dec 2011, jan 2012,i like Radio Mirchi Trivandrum.. its style of presentation is same as Gold FM 101.3...
Radio Mirchi is the best in Trivandrum.. itz really hot.
And About Gyan Vani FM.. clarity is not good..
